| PDP says its agenda guided by state's pol, eco interests | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, Apr 22- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said the PDP’s agenda is guided by the State’s political and economic interests and the aspirations of its people. “PDP’s persistent struggle to bring the interests of Jammu & Kashmir and its people on the centre-stage of the sub-continent’s political dynamics have started bearing fruit and the strong political vibes emanating from Jammu & Kashmir have altered the mindset both in Delhi and Islamabad,” he said. Addressing public meetings in Bijbehara and Pahalgam assembly segments of the Anantnag parliamentary constituency today, Sayeed said as has been envisioned by PDP, people in all the regions and sub-regions of the State must get equal share and opportunity to realize their full potential by taking advantage of the human resource and the abundant natural resources. “To rejuvenate our economy to its fullest potential, Jammu & Kashmir has to be linked up in as many areas as possible, so that there is not only a free flow of people and goods, but of ideas and cultures as well,” he said and added that the people of the State have developed stakes in peace and political stability and they want to reap the fruits of globalization and economic liberalization. Sayeed said the coalition Government led by PDP had made some leading interventions to attract tourists to the State and build infrastructure at the existing and new tourist resorts. Specifically referring to the development of Pahalgam as a world-class tourist resort, Sayeed said besides the upgradation of Khannabal-Pahalgam road, work on laying of 18-hole golf course was started in Pahalgam. He said a concerted effort was made on beautification and conservation of Pahalgam by developing parks, gardens and sewerage and drainage system. He said a micro-hydro project was also commissioned at the tourist resort besides construction of a new club building with modern amenities. “We hope the new Government would keep the momentum of the works being executed in the area to make not only Pahalgam, but other tourist resorts as well, attractive destinations for the visitors,” he said. Addressing the meetings senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig said, with its people-oriented agenda, PDP is fast gaining strength in all the regions and sub-regions of the State. He said despite being made target of a vicious propaganda from various “like-minded” parties, groups and individuals on its pro-people agenda, PDP has not only emerged as a strong political force in the Kashmir valley, but the party is making deep inroads in the Jammu region as well.. PDP candidate for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency Peer Mohammad Hussain, legislators A R Veeri and Rafi Ahmad Mir and Chairman Municipal Council Bijbehara Mufti Mohammad Amin also addressed the meetings.
