GDC Paloura Observes International Yoga Day

Jammu, May 22: In line with the global celebrations of International Yoga Day 2025, Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura organized an impactful awareness programme on the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, under the able guidance of Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the college.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Kusha Sharma, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), 2 J&K Girls Battalion, who also delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation.
The session emphasized how yoga, beyond being a physical exercise, promotes holistic well-being — uniting body, mind, and spirit.
Prof. Sharma highlighted how the 2025 theme encourages a shift from “well-being for me” to well-being for all life”, emphasizing harmony between human health and planetary health.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Kulvinder Kour emphasized yoga’s transformative power. “Yoga’s magic lies in its holistic approach. Physically, it strengthens immunity and relieves chronic ailments.
Mentally, it calms anxiety and improves focus. Emotionally, it nurtures self-awareness and inner balance,” she remarked, while encouraging students and faculty to incorporate yoga into their daily lives.
The event was graced by faculty members Prof. Geetanjali Multani, Prof.Shivani Sharma, Prof. Vijay Kumari, Prof. Neha Bhagat, Prof. Amit Bhalla, Prof.Usha Rani,Prof.Chinmei Sharma, Mr. Vikram Singh Jamwal (PTI),andProf.Ikhlaq Ahmed,, who also shared their reflections on the significance of yoga in personal and community wellness.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to adopt yoga not only as a wellness tool but as a way of living harmoniously with the environment.
