Early Times Report JAMMU, May 22: Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) successfully concluded a 3-day Orientation Programme for RAWE & AIA interns at its Main Campus, Chatha. The programme was organized under an academia-industry collaboration between SKUAST-Jammu and Bayer Crop Science, India. In his address, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the importance of such collaborations, stating that they provide students with valuable industry exposure, practical skills, and professional networks, thereby enhancing their employability and workforce readiness. He also highlighted the mutual benefits of collaboration for research and education, encouraging students to develop critical competencies and leadership skills. A total of 25 selected candidates participated in the orientation, receiving comprehensive training on various aspects of the agri-input industry, including sales, marketing, market development, breeding, production, entrepreneurship, communication skills, and customer relationship management. The sessions were jointly facilitated by the Division of Agricultural Extension Education and the Counseling and Placement Cell of the university, with guest lectures from Bayer Crop Science officials. Daily interactive sessions fostered shared learning and helped develop entrepreneurial acumen among participants. After the orientation, the interns will undertake a one-month internship at Bayer Crop Science and prepare project reports for evaluation. The programme was attended by senior university officials including Dr. S.K. Gupta, Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Sanjay Guleria, and others. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing eagerness to contribute to the corporate sector and the country's economic growth. The proceedings were managed by Dr. P.S. Slathia and Dr. Poonam Parihar, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. J.S. Manhas. |
