Early Times Report KATHUA, May 23: The Student Welfare Committee of Government Degree College for Women (GDCW), Kathua, organised a special function aimed at promoting awareness among students regarding the importance of sports in overall personality development. The event was held under the supervision of the college Principal, Dr. Savi Behl, who encouraged students to actively participate in co-curricular activities. She emphasized that holistic personality development is incomplete without involvement in such activities and highlighted the role of sports in building physical and emotional strength. Dr. Rachna, Dean Student Welfare (DSW), stressed that education must focus on the all-round development of students. "For physical growth, we must step beyond the classroom and onto the playground," she said. The program also witnessed the presence of Mrs. Itika from the Social Welfare Department, who distributed sports kits to students. She underscored the need to engage youth in sports to steer them away from drugs and towards a healthier lifestyle. The event was also graced by Dr. Seema Jolly, Head of the Department of Home Science, Prof. Sachinjeet Singh, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, and Mr. Jamwal, Physical Director, who supported the initiative and interacted with the students. |
