EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, APRIL 23 – The Information Department released Verdict 2008, a comprehensive book on the results of the J&K Assembly Elections 2008, here today.

The book was released by Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Mr. B. R. Sharma, in presence of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IG, Jammu Zone, Mr. K. Rajendra and Director, Information, Mr. Khalid Bashir Ahmad.

Verdict 2008 comes close on the heels of release of a handbook on Parliamentary elections, also published by the Information Department. The two books will provide an opportunity to the media persons to adequately cover Parliamentary elections and analyze voting patterns in the Assembly and Parliamentary polls.

The Chief Electoral Officer praised the Information Department by coming out with Verdict 2008 within a short span of time, that too in the middle of Parliamentary elections.

The book will be a prized addition to the library shelves and will be sourced whenever Assembly elections are held in the State.

Verdict 2008 encompasses details about all the 87 constituencies together with winners, poll percentage, total votes polled and past winners. The book also provides information about all previous elections held in the State since 1967.

Printed in eye-catching yellow hardbound, the book’s layout is striking which accommodates all statistical information, along with photographs of MLAs, their profile and still-shots of voters lined up outside polling stations in each of the 87 constituencies.

Verdict 2008 was distributed among media persons present on the occasion. It was also simultaneously distributed among media persons at Srinagar today.
