| Physical Education beat Geography by 9 wkts | | Inter-department cricket tourney of JU | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 23: Defeating Department of Geology in a one-sided encounter, the Department of Physical Education today qualified for the semi-finals of ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu, here. Now, Physical Education will be playing against Department of History in the semi-finals scheduled to be played tomorrow afternoon. Batting first after winning the toss, Geology Department bowled out for 129 runs in 19.3 overs of the 20 overs match, which, in rely, Physical Education chased making 131 runs in just 10.5 overs for the loss of one wicket. Arun was top scorer with 31 (off 22 balls, 2x6, 1x4) runs while Stengin and Rahul contributed 17 and 18 runs respectively. Yogesh (16) and Ajay (15) were other main scorers. From Physical Education, Harish clinched three wickets for 27 runs in three overs and Ashwani bagged two. Opinder, Matinder, Pawan and Sameer shared one each. Later, Physical Education overhauled the opponent total in just 10.5 overs with nine wickets in hand. Pawan played superb innings of 59 runs off mere 27 deliveries with the help of a six and 11 fours. Sameer and Opinder contributed 37 (off 29 balls, 4x4) and 24 (off 11 balls, 1x6, 4x4) runs respectively. Arshdeep took the only wicket lost by Physical Education. In today’s match, Pankaj Sasan and Anil Balgotra were umpires while Sat Paul maintained the score.
