| Football tourney at Udhampur begins today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, April 23: The 2nd edition of the Major Narian Singh (Vir Chakra) Memorial Football Tournament, organised by the District Football Association (DFA) Udhampur, shall start tomorrow at Sports Stadium, here.
The three-day event shall be declared open by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur-Reasi range, Gulzar Singh Slathia. In the final and closing function, to be held on April 26, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Balwant Singh Mankotia has consented to be the chief guest, a handout issued here today said.
In all, eight teams are taking part in this tournament which is being organised under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA).
The event is being organised by the DFA Udhampur to pay homage to son of the soil, Major Narian Singh, who sacrificed his life for the sake of the Nation during Indo-Pak war of 1971 at Fazilka Sector.
