| BJP leaders pay glowing tributes to Babu Parmanand | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24- Leaders of State unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today paid rich tributes to Babu Parmanand, former Haryana Governor and party’s senior leader, on his first death anniversary. State president Ashok Khajuria and other functionaries of BJP garlanded the portrait of Babu Parmanand . While paying tributes to Babu Parmanand, Ashok Khajuria threw light on the remarkable political career and his contribution to Indian state. ‘Being a Dalit leader he worked for weaker sections of the community and downtrodden and his contribution towards dalit samaj recognized him not in the state but whole of the country’, Khajuria said. Khajuria emphasized that leaders like Babu Parmanand, who has been known from their selfless service will always be a source of inspiration for politicians irrespective of party affiliations. He asked young BJP cadres to follow the foot-steps of veteran leader Babu Parmanand.
Born on August 10, 1932 in Sarore village of R S Pura tehsil, Babuji, as he was called by his friends and supporters, was a post-graduate in Economics and also completed his LLB in 1958-59.
He was elected to the state legislative assembly in 1962 from Ramgarh constituency for the first time and another five times from different constituencies. He also remained Speaker of the state legislative assembly from 1977 to 1980.
He was appointed Governor of Haryana in June, 2000 by the BJP-led NDA government.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Daya Krishan Kotwal, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Bali Bhagat, Yudhvir Sethi, S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Balbir Ram, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Parmod Kapahi, Kavinder Gupta, Rajesh Gupta Usha Choudhary, N.D.Rajwal, Ch. Sukhnandan and Pawan Khajuria also remembered Babuji on his first death anniversary.
