| Task Force reviews Rs 12Cr Sidhra Golf Course | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, APRIL 24: The Task Force constituted for execution of Sidhra Golf Course today met at Sidhra Jammu and reviewed the ongoing works of the Golf Course. The meeting held threadbare deliberations on the various under execution works including fencing, laying of sprinklers, construction of approach road, bund, flood protection and water channeling. The meeting was told that the work on the nine hole Golf Course under phase-I was apace and so far Rs.8.50 crore have been spent on various civil works. Some of the civil works have been completed and few are nearing completion. The Golf Course spread over 7150 yards has been fenced from two sides while as the remaining fencing would be taken up from Tawi side after the annexation of acquired land is over. The sprinklers have been laid on the layout and sprinkling of the planted grass is going on. The meeting agreed for construction of a dug well within the Golf Course to augment the sprinkling of the layout. It was also decided to speed up the plantation of wild species, fruit bearing and ornamental plants to beautify the Course. So far over 2000 fruit bearing and ornamental plants have been planted in the course and during this plantation season the Forest Department would be providing over 10000 different plants species for plantation in the course, the meeting was told The meeting also discussed development of fish pond, botanical garden, Wildlife Park and construction of water channel to the golf course and decided to involve the concerned departments in these projects. Regarding removal of encroachments near the Golf Course, shifting of BSF camp and providing security the meeting decided to take these issues with the concerned agencies. The meeting also decided to constitute a sub committee of reputed Golfers of the state, who will be visiting the upcoming Golf Course to give suggestions to the executing agencies. Addressing the meeting, Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Mr. Anil Goswami asked the Tourism Department to make close liaison with the other involved departments for successful completion of this mega project. He said that from Tourism point of view the Golf Course would be a captivating destination for the tourists visiting Jammu. He suggested for proper protection, development and management of the land adjacent to the Golf Course, adding that any mis-management or encroachment of the land would lead to ugliness of the area having far reaching effects on golfing as well as on tourism. He asked the concerned agencies to formulate plans for incorporating the requirements which have surfaced after the launch of the project. Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Vice Chairman, JDA, Mr. Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, Director Tourism, Mr. S. M. Sahani, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Senior engineers and officers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Forest, Horticulture, Police, Town Planning and other departments, besides golfers were present in the meeting. Earlier, Consultant of the Sidhra Golf Course Phase-I, Colonel Baga briefed about the various ongoing works of the project coming up at a cost of Rs.12 crore.
