Indian Army organizes awareness lecture
6/6/2025 9:20:00 PM

early times report

Poonch, June 6: In observance of World Environment Day 2025, The Indian Army organized an awareness lecture on Renewable Energy Resources and their Utility at Khanetar in Poonch District on 06 June 2025. The event aimed to educate and engage the local community particularly the youth on the importance of adopting renewable energy solutions in light of depleting conventional energy sources.
The session opened with a comprehensive overview of conventional energy resources such as coal, petroleum, natural gas, and nuclear power highlighting their non-renewable nature and the unsustainable rate at which they are being consumed globally. The lecture emphasized the urgent need to transition to alternative, sustainable sources of energy, including solar, wind, biomass, and tidal energy.
The Indian Army, through this initiative, also familiarized the community with key government initiatives promoting clean energy. Notable among them is the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, which supports solar-powered irrigation, reduces reliance on diesel, and generates additional income for farmers.
The lecture further detailed available financial incentives such as grants, low-interest loans, tax credits, and subsidies aimed at accelerating the adoption of renewable technologies.
With Jammu & Kashmir facing unique energy challenges due to its terrain and climate, the event underscored the region’s significant untapped potential for renewable energy generation. The Indian Army emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to build an energy-secure and environmentally sustainable future.
The lecture concluded with a call to action for the youth and local stakeholders to become proactive participants in environmental conservation and energy innovation.
