GDC Vijaypur organizes plantation drive

VIJAYPUR, June 6: Department of Environmental Sciences and EcoClub (Green Warriors) of Government Degree College Vijaypur, under the guidance of worthy Principal of the college, Dr. Ashu Vashisht conducted a plantation drive on 06.05.2025 in continuation with the celebrations of the Environment Day. The drive is an effort to make the campus green and create an awareness regarding the incredible biodiversity of the earth.
Every year on 5 June, the world unites for World Environment Day - an urgent global call to protect the planet. Observed across more than 150 countries, it stands as the largest international platform dedicated to raising awareness and sparking action for the environment. . A different theme is selected each year, addressing topics such as deforestation, global warming, and climate change. "Putting an End to Plastic Pollution' is the 2025 World Environment Day theme.
This year, World Environment Day complements the UNEP-led # BeatPlasticPollution campaign to encourage communities throughout the globe to adopt and promote sustainable solutions.
The drive was conducted under the able guidance of the Principal of the college Dr. Ashu Vashisht. All the staff members participated in the drive enthusiastically. The plants of medicinal and ornamental value were planted on the occasion. The plants were donated by the worthy Principal as well as staff members of the college.
Dr. Ashu Vashisht, the Principal of the college stressed upon the staff members and students to make the campus green & clean. She also emphasized to make the campus plastic free in accordance with the Environment Day theme of 2025 "END PLASTIC POLLUTION". Posters were also displayed at different places to aware the students about the celebrations of the day.
The plantation drive was coordinated by the teaching and non-teaching faculty members of Government Degree College Vijaypur.
