Early Times Report JAMMU, June 6: In a determined move against drug trafficking, Police Post Sidhra, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota, achieved another success by arresting two suspected drug peddlers and recovering 9.10 grams of heroin-like substance. The accused have been identified as: Mohd Tariq S/O Nazir Mohd, R/O Battal Balian, Udhampur. Yash Paul S/O Shiv Kumar, R/O Tikri, Udhampur The operation also led to the seizure of an Alto car bearing registration number JK14A/8575, which was being used to transport the contraband. On 6th June 2025, acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, police received information that the two suspects were transporting heroin-like substances in an Alto car while travelling from Narwal towards Sidhra. Acting swiftly, a special naka (checkpoint) was established at Sidhra Bridge by a team led by ICPP Sidhra PSI Neeraj Parihar. The vehicle was successfully intercepted, and upon search, the narcotic substance was recovered. The accused were taken into custody on the spot. FIR No. 126/2025 has been registered at Police Station Nagrota under the relevant sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify any links to a larger drug network. This successful operation is yet another testament to the Jammu Police's proactive efforts in combating the drug menace. |
