Reasi farmers embrace VKSA with enthusiasm

JAMMU, June 9: As part of 15 days long nationwide marathon campaign on Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK) Reasi along with Deptt.of Agriculture, Reasi and other line departments organised awareness programmes on Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan here today in different villages of Reasi district which were enthusiastically attended by number of farmers and farm women of the areas. The programmes were organised under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. The campaign aiming at empowering the farming community by creating awareness on Central and State Government Schemes and modern farming technologies with a strong focus on enhancing crops productivity and sustainability. The campaign has been receiving an overwhelming response from the farming community. The campaign is also gathering insights on the challenges, indigenous and feedback of the farmers to inform research driven solutions. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Reasi said that experts are guided farmers on latest agricultural innovations and stressed on efficient agricultural practices for more farm returns. He also guided participants on natural farming and discussed on soil health management. He guided farmers on commercial farming and elaborated scientific farming of various Kharif season crops. He also guided participants on climate resilient agriculture and stressed on new agricultural innovations for more farm returns. Sudhakar Khajuria, SMS, Department of Agriculture, Reasi guided farmers on different schemes and encouraged the them to take advantage of such schemes to enhance their crops productivity and income. He stressed on diversification in agriculture for more farm returns. He also guided farmers on the efficient farm management practices and stressed on Integrated Nutrients Management in various crops. Dr. Arvinder Kumar guided farmers on the efficient farm management practices and stressed on Integrated Nutrients Management in various crops. Narinder Singh, an official from Department of Agriculture, Reasi guided farmers on agricultural schemes undergoing in the district. Talab Hussain expert from Department of Horticulture, Reasi guided participants on various horticultural crops schemes undergoing in Reasi distt. and provided on spot solutions of various horticultural crops to the farmers. Anil Kumar,an official from Animal Husbandry, Reasi guided participants on breeding, feeding and management of livestock and apprised them about various schemes and urged farmers to take advantages of such programmes. Nar Chand from Sheep Husbandry also guided farmers on various schemes and innovations. Khajure Singh from RGICL guided farmers on Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). During the programme experts urged farmers to adopt the latest agricultural innovations for more farm returns. Farmer-scientist interaction programmes were also organised during which the participants asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the experts. Farmers appreciated the efforts of KVK Reasi and line departments and responded that such programmes are helpful to increase their knowledge and skills. Manohar Lal, Mohd. Iqbal and others were also present during the programmes. The programme was also attended by Sarpanches and Panches of the area. The programme was concluded by Dr. Arvinder Kumar with formal vote of thanks.
