Jammu police nabs hardcore criminal, involved in Baribrahmana attack on police party, also wanted in many FIRs

JAMMU, June 9: In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police, Headquarter Zone arrested a notorious and history-sheeter criminal-Bagh Hussain @Baghu @Sunny S/o Mangat Ali, resident of Balol Nallah near Kikri Morh, Bari Brahmana (originally from Laswara, Tehsil Bishnah)-from the state of Haryana, following sustained investigation in case FIR No. 53/2025 u/s 109/111/132/191(2) BNS, 3/25 Arms Act of PS Miran Sahib.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed having concealed the weapon of offence-a loaded pistol along with a "kulhadi" (axe)-in Banachak village, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah.
Under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Sd. Gurmeet Singh, a police team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by Inspector Jai Pal Sharma and PSI Ajesh Jamwal, with vital assistance from SHO Bishnah Inspector Sushil Choudhary, rushed to the location to recover the weapons. However, in a shocking turn of events, not mending his ways, the accused attempted to snatch the service weapon of one Constable Arun Sharma, leading to a violent scuffle and causing injuries to the constable.
In line of duty, self-defence and retaliatory action, the police party was forced to open fire on the accused, who sustained injuries during the incident. The injured accused was immediately shifted to SDH Bishnah for medical treatment and is under police custody.
It is pertinent to mention that the arrested accused, Bagh Hussain, is a notorious criminal with a long history of violent and heinous crimes, with 27 FIRs registered against him across multiple police stations in Jammu, Samba, and even Himachal Pradesh, out of which 08 FIRs were registered for assault on police parties including recent incident of attack on SHO PS Baribrahmana. His criminal record includes charges under attempt to murder, murder, dacoity, illegal arms possession, kidnapping, rioting, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of government duties, and several serious provisions of Law. The arrest and subsequent recovery once again demonstrate the dedication and efficiency of Jammu Police in tackling hardcore criminals and ensuring safety of the public.
SSP Jammu Sh. Joginder Singh-JKPS and incharge SP HQRS Sh. Ajay Sharma-JKPS appreciated the courage, professionalism, sense of duty before self and the swift response of the police team to recover the arms ammunition and shifting him to hospital. Further investigation is underway to unearth the full extent of the accused's criminal network in the area.
