City Excise Range South Jammu conducted raids in Bishnah area

Jammu, June 10: On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Govt. of J&K, Subash Chander Chhibber (JKAS) and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Sanjay Bhat (JKAS), on 09-06-2025 in the wee hours at about 05.00 AM, a raid was conducted at village Salehar & Tarachak of Sub Range Bishnah by a team comprising of Inspector Excise Sub Range Bishnah, S. Gagandeep Singh along with excise officials under the direct supervision of Excise & Taxation Officer, City Excise Range South, Jammu Rupali Vaid.
During the course of raid, a total of 150 litres and 149 pouches (approx. 250ml each) of illicit liquor were recovered from the state land at village Tarachak and adjoining areas in Tehsil Bishnah which were later destroyed on the spot.
Excise Department conducts raids on routine basis to arrest and control the menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor.
A total of 25,480 Kgs of lahan, 340 litres of illicit liquor and 152 pouches were recovered from the state land and destroyed during the year 2025 till date in Sub Range Bishnah.
These efforts aim to reduce production, consumption of illicit liquor and its harmful effects on individuals and society.
Moreover, the department implement various strategies to address the issue of illicit liquor, including prevention and awareness campaigns.
