| Non –camp 1971 Chhamb Refugees call on Div Com | | Kotwal assures expeditious redressal of grievances | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 25- A deputation of Non-Camp Displaced Persons of 1971 from Chhamb Niabat area called on the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal here today and apprised him about their long pending grievances.
DC Kathua, Mandeep Kaur, Additional DC Samba, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu and senior officers of the concerned departments were also present.
The non camp displaced camps are demanding grant of adequate compensation for loss of family members, home and hearths both movable and immovable property left by them in Pak occupied Kashmir besides treating them at par with Displaced persons of POK
The deputationists also demanded implementation of the Wadhwa Committee Report in letter and spirit to mitigate the woes of Pok DPs, including Non-Camp DPs of 1971.
Responding to the demands and grievances of Non-Camp Refugees, Dr. Kotwal assured to consider the genuine ones on priority basis. He said the supplementary lists have been verified for providing relief to deserving families. The issue of exemption of rent would be discussed with the Custodian authorities and a strong recommendation would be made to Government of India asking other states to keep reservation for Non-Camp Refugees in professional colleges.
On construction of community centres and halls, Dr Kotwal asked the Non-Camp refugees to identify appropriate land for the same. He said other demands and grievances would also be considered for expeditious redressal.
