Exhibition of Applied Art begins at Kala Kendera

Jammu, Apr 25- An exhibition of more than 150 works of Applied Art was inaugurated at Kala Kendera here today Ram Sahai, President of Jammu Chamber of Commerce. A galaxy of prominent artists and painters were present in the opening ceremony of Exhibition organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Welcoming the guests Zaffar Iqbal Manhas , Secretary Academy said that the main objective of organizing this Exhibition of Applied Art works, prepared by trainees of Institute of Music and Fine Art , Jammu, is to provide a platform to our young artists working in the field of “Commercial Advertisements” and hoped that the Jammu Chamber of Commerce would use their skills in promotion of local and non-local products among the buyers.
He said that this exhibition will go a long way to encourage them, besides popularizing their skills and enhancing their commitment to the world of Applied Art.
Ram Sahai in his address appreciated the exhibition of Applied Art works and said “I hope that those sellers who are looking for buyers must take an advantage of using Art as an instrument of promoting their products in a big way. He further said that Jammu Chamber of Commerce will also provide a suitable plate form to the artists Jammu regions and will use their skills in commercial sector.
Prominent Writer and Painter N D Jamwal stated that this exhibition is a great combination of Art and Commerce and added that Art is great medium to be used to propagate commercial products. He said there is an urgent need to recognize Applied Art as a powerful instrument of promoting trade and business in and out side the country.
The exhibits displayed at the exhibition were prepared by Chetna Kumari, Priyaka Deol, Monika Kalgotra,Sarita Saini, Farooq Ahmed, Pooja and Shivali .
The exhibition will remain open in Kala Kendera till April 30th.
