Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: As part of its ongoing Summer Media Internship Programme 2025-26, the Institute of Mass Communication and Skill Development (IMCSD) today organized an insightful and interactive visit for its media interns to Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital, Jammu. The session was hosted by Dr. Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent of SMGS Hospital, who delivered a comprehensive address focusing on the significance of moral values, professional ethics, time management, and the evolving role of media in modern society. In his address, Dr. Dara Singh underscored the importance of punctuality, dedication, discipline, and academic commitment for aspiring media professionals. Providing a detailed orientation about SMGS Hospital, Dr. Singh elaborated on the hospital's operational structure, patient care mechanisms, administrative functioning, and the collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals that ensure timely delivery of medical services to the community. He shed light on the challenges faced by medical institutions and the pivotal role of teamwork in maintaining quality healthcare. Turning to the responsibilities of the media, Dr. Singh stated, "As emerging journalists, you are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of disseminating truth. In today's fast-paced world, media not only informs but also shapes public opinion, educates communities, and plays a crucial role in holding institutions accountable." He encouraged the interns to report responsibly, particularly on sensitive sectors such as healthcare, public services, and social welfare, while always upholding journalistic integrity. The entire session was coordinated by senior journalist and IMCSD executive member Vicky Verma, who also accompanied the interns during the interaction.
