JCC beaten by 39 runs in quarters
3rd Tickoo-Drabu memorial cricket tournament

JAMMU, April 25: One of the top clubs of Jammu, Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) today suffered a 39 runs defeat in the hands of Kanwal Sports Cricket Club of Beijbehara in the quarterfinal match of ongoing 3rd Tickoo-Drabu memorial cricket tournament at M A Stadium, here today.
Batting first, after JCC won the toss and opted to field, Kanwal Sports set a target of 178 runs losing all their wickets in 29.5 overs, which, in reply, JCC could not chase and bowled out for 138 in 28 overs.
Shahid played fine innings of 30 (off 15 balls, 2x6, 3x4) while Imtiyaz and Sajad contributed 29 and 28 runs respectively. Parminder and Ulfat added 17 runs each to the team’s total. From JCC, Vijay Dogra clinched three wickets, followed by Vivek Singh, who took two. Dilawar and Rahil Singh shared apiece each.
Later, chasing the target, JCC failed to maintain the required run-rate while losing wickets at regular intervals. The whole side bowled out for 138 runs in 28 overs.
Sandeep remained the top scorer with 46 runs while Rahil Singh and Vijay Dogra contributed 22 and 18 runs respectively. From Kanwal Sports, Adnan emerged as most successful bowler with four for 21 in five overs. Imtiyaz and Abdul Qayoom took two wickets each.
Adnan, who claimed important five wickets, was adjudged man of the match. Today’s quarterfinal was officiated by Vinod and Sadiq Hussain as umpires.
