Bail denied in drug peddling case
6/12/2025 10:30:46 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 12: Vacation Sessions Judges Jammu (Presiding officer Fast Track Court) Amarjeet Singh Langeh rejected bail application of accused in a case titled Sheema Bibi Vs State through Police Post Pouni Chack, Jammu arising out of FIR No.109/2025 for offences under sections 8/21/22/29 of NDPS Act.
The allegations against the accused were that Chitta/heroin was recovered from her Kulla at Gujjar Basti, Gole Gujral, Jammu and some quantity of the same was recovered from the possession of her husband. By the time police reached on spot, the residential house of petitioner and her husband was surrounded by locals and during investigation 13.47 grams of Chitta was recovered in a container from their Kulla while 3.61 grams was recovered from the pocket of the husband of petitioner.
While dismissing bail application, court observed,"Un- mindfull of fear of law, the act of alleged selling of Chitta by petitioner with impunity not only scales-up gravity of the offences alleged but its pernicious-consequences are more than visible to anyone willing to gauge and notice," adding "obtaining facts of the case at hand only showcase an un-speak able lack of deterrence in drug peddling cases despite existence of stringent law on the subject and that is how there is such an alarming escalation in drug peddling cases. Its worrisome to say the least".
Court also noted that investigation was at initial stage and offences involved were grave and serious. With these observations court dismissed the bail application. —JNF
