Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 12: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, expressed profound sorrow over the horrific crash of Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787 8 Dreamliner bound for London Gatwick, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport this afternoon. The flight, carrying 242 people, included 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
In a press release issued here today, the senior BJP leader described the event as "extremely distressing and profoundly heartbreaking," adding that the tragedy has left the nation reeling. He extended his heartfelt condolences to all victims and their families, and expressed further grief over the untimely death of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was on board the ill-fated aircraft
The senior BJP leader emphasized the necessity for a swift and transparent investigation: "We urge the DGCA, AAIB, and Air India authorities to immediately launch a high level inquiry into the cause of this tragedy. Passenger safety must remain paramount, and any gaps in oversight must be addressed without delay."
"I stand in solidarity with the victims' families and the Ahmedabad community. In this trying time, the nation must unite to support those affected. This incident is a solemn reminder that we must continuously strengthen aviation safety protocols and emergency readiness," he added.
He called for national introspection and reform: "Moving forward, we must redouble our commitment to rigorous safety systems, ensuring the highest standards in civil aviation."
