Jammu, June 13: 3rd batch of Tawi Trekkers J&K comprising 90 students including 32 girls of M H A C School, Nagbani,Jammu, left today for Dharamshala to participate in the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme being organized by Tawi Trekkers under the overall supervision of Shawetica Khajuria, President of the club. Shashi Kant Sharma, a trained mountaineer and a seasoned trekker along with Hari Khajuria and four teachers of the school Sanjay Nayar, Anuradha Sharma and Sarika Billowria escorted the group. Meanwhile, activists of the club led by Sonam Sidharth, Field Director of the programme, Sourav Deep Singh and others have already made proper boarding, lodging and other necessary arrangements at Chamunda and Macleodganj area for the smooth conduct of the trekking venture. Earlier, the group was flagged off by Parveen Sharma, Chairman of The Citizens’ Co-operative Bank Ltd, Jammu; Rahul Sharma, Patron of the club and Sonia Anand Principal of MHAC Scool, Nagbani While interacting with the students the chief guest advised the students to respect and love nature by keeping the camp site as well as the trekking trail neat and clean by not throwing any wrappers of chocolates, toffees, biscuits etc. which shall be issued to them during the trek. The programme is being organized in cooperation with J&K Sports Council, Mountaineering Association of J&K, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu, Adventure Holidays India, Jammu and Northernland Hikes, Jammu. Meanwhile the 1st group of trekkers of MHAC School, NagbaniSchool, Jammu has reached back Jammu after a memorial experience of trekking in the calm and cool forests of Mcleodganj area. The next group of about 150 trekkers shall leave on 16th June, 2025. It may be mentioned that Tawi Trekkers J&K is a voluntary, non profit making, social service & sports organisation run by a group of highly dedicated young boys and girls whose only motive is to spread spirit of adventure and love of nature among all strata of society without distinction of colour, caste, creed.
