Sports passion overwhelms Chowgan Ground Kishtwar amid inauguration of Inter-Zonal District Tournament

KISHTWAR, June 13: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YS&S) Kishtwar today declared open the much-anticipated Inter Zonal District Level Tournament for U/14 and U/17 Boys and Girls amid a vibrant inaugural ceremony held here on the historic Chowgan Grounds.
The tournament would feature competitions across multiple sports disciplines. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal inaugurated the tournament as the Chief Guest amid cheers from hundreds of participating student-athletes, officials and spectators.
The inaugural event was held under the overall supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jaffer Haider Sheikh.
A well-coordinated march past by teams from different zones of the district marked the ceremonial start, followed by National Anthem, oath-taking ceremony led by young athletes, pledging commitment to sportsmanship and fair play.
The atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor and youthful energy as cultural performances and motivational addresses inspired the gathering.
In his address, ADDC Pawan Kotwal emphasized the role of sports in holistic development of youth stating, "Sports events not only promote physical fitness and discipline but also foster unity and cultural exchange among students from all corners of the district. The administration is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and opportunities for our youth.”
The Inter-Zonal Tournament features a wide array of sports including Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, among others, with both boys and girls participating in U/14 and U/17 age categories.
Matches and events are scheduled to take place across various venues including GHSS Boys, ITI Indoor Stadium and Chowgan Ground for a full week.
