Record number of farmers participated in 15 days Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in District Samba

Samba, June 15: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the aegis of SKUAST Jammu, concluded its impactful outreach under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan launched by Union Agriculture Ministry, New Delhi. These programmes were successfully conducted under the stewardship of Prof. B.N Tripathi Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu and the able guidance of Dr. Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu.
The abhiyan WAS being carried out under the direct supervision of Prof Sanjay Khajuria, District Nodal Officer VKSA Samba and Dr. Rakesh Khajuria Joint Nodal Officer VKSA, Samba. While briefing in details to the media on the conclusion of VKSA in district Samba, Prof Sanjay Khajuria disclosed that a 135 number of villages of 9 blocks of District Samba were successfully contacted and covered under VKSA by the three teams.
He further stated that in fifteen days , more than twenty thousand farmers/farm women/rural youths were contacted directly and indirectly in all the locations comprising the highly remote as well as unapproachable villages.
The farming community was fully made awared about the agro technology of various Kharif season crops, management of animals during the hot summer as well as during the coming monsoon, preparation regarding mass planation of different agroforestry trees in the different blocks of Samba District, cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, insect pest management in the Kharif crops, safe use of pesticides, planting technologies of different fruit plants, management of orchards, use of different bio pesticides as well as bio fertilizer, increase in area under oilseeds and pulses, cultivation of different fodder crops/trees etc. Moreover, the awareness on different centrally sponsored schemes (CSSs) by the agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, sheep husbandry etc were given in details.
More than eighty five thousand copies of technical bulletins/pamphlets/leaflets were also distributed among the participants for increasing their knowledge about different agriculture techniques and innovations with special focus on HADP schemes also.
During these 15 days VKSA, the presence of Hon’ble MLAs viz; Chander Prakash Ganga, MLA Vijaypur, and Dr. DK Manyal MLA Ramgarh has increased the morale of the farming community in the district.
During the VKSA Kharif 2025 three teams were engaged, the teams was comprising Dr. Neerja Sharma Chief Scientist Horticulture, as leader -1, Dr. Saurav Gupta Sr. Scientist Entomology team leader-2, Dr. Shalini/Dr. Amit Mahajan as team leader -3 Dr. Sonika Jamwal, Chief Scientist ACRA, Dr. Vijay Kumar Chief Scientist, Dr. Jai Kumar Kappor Chief Scientist, Dr. Reena Chief Scientist, Dr. Parmendra Chief Scientist, Dr Naresh Choudhary Sr Scientist, Dr. Rohit Sharma Sr. Scientist, SMS-III, AEOs, JAEOs, VAEA, VAS from AH, VAS from SH, expert from Fisheries, cooperative and horticulture department has put their impeccable efforts to make the campaign more vibrant and impactful in all the blocks of District Samba.
