Strict action against littering in Bhopal division Rs 1 lakh fine collected in two months
6/15/2025 10:01:46 PM

Early Times Report

Bhopal, June 15: Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Mr. Debashish Tripathi, Bhopal Division has been actively conducting campaigns to prioritize cleanliness at various railway stations, aiming to provide passengers with a clean, pleasant, and environmentally friendly environment. Along with regular cleaning of station premises and trains, passengers are being sensitized through announcements, posters, and other media not to litter, spit, throw garbage in open areas, or smoke in public spaces.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Saurabh Kataria informed that despite repeated warnings and awareness campaigns, some individuals continue to act irresponsibly. In such cases, fines are imposed under the Railway Act. During the months of April and May 2025, a total of 324 cases of littering were recorded in Bhopal Division, and a fine of ₹99,970 was collected. In May alone, 152 cases were fined, resulting in a collection of ₹43,950.
The railway administration not only collects fines from such individuals but also educates them about the importance of cleanliness and the harmful effects of littering. These passengers are reminded that railway stations and trains are public property, and maintaining their cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen.
Bhopal Division appeals to all passengers to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of station premises and to actively participate in the efforts of the railway administration. Special campaigns against littering will continue regularly in alignment with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
