| Notoriouis drug peddler nabbed | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, June 19: In continuation to take tough action against drug menace and its propagators within the District, J&K Police Kathua under the supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS recovered Approx. 5.74 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance at Basanter Bridge area of PP Ramkot and one drug peddler was arrested alongwith vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) used in the commission of crime was also seized on spot.
On 19/06/2025 Police team led by IC PP Ramkot PSI Ranbeer Singh under the guidance of SDPO Billawar Neeraj Padyar & Insp. Zaheer Mushtaq SHO PS Billawar established a naka for checking of vehicles at Basanter Bridge Ramkot and saw one Mahindra Bolero bearing Reg. No. JK08N-4170 which was stopped for checking on suspicious grounds, to evade checking the said person tried to escape from the spot, but the alert police team apprehended him. While questioning he disclosed his name as Mohd Sadiq @Shiku S/o Sheru R/o Galak Jasyal Tehsil Ramkot. During his personal search 5.74 grams of Heroine (chitta) like substance has been recovered from his possession alongwith vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) got seized and said person got arrested. In this regard a case FIR No. 96/2025 U/S 8/21/22/27(a)/60 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Billawar and further investigation started.
Moreover, it is pertinent to mention here that the Said accused is a hardcore Criminal of Drug/Chitta smuggling and two cases were also registered against the said accused (1) FIR NO. 110/2023 U/S 8/21/22 /29 NDPS act of P/S Billawar (2) FIR No. 100/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS act of P/S Saddar Gurdaspur Punjab. Kathua Police again requests people of the area to come forward and share information about any such illicit activity with Police for the cause and assures that their identity will be kept confidential.
