KATHUA, June 19: Preparations for International Yoga Day 2025 are in full swing in Kathua, with the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) leading a series of engaging activities across schools in the district.
As part of the buildup, students from various schools actively participated in morning yoga sessions conducted under the guidance of YSS experts. These sessions aimed to familiarize students with essential yoga asanas, their correct techniques, and health benefits.
In addition to the physical practice, several schools organized poster-making and essay-writing competitions where students creatively expressed their understanding of yoga and its importance in daily life. Scrapbook projects on yoga themes further encouraged students to explore the discipline's rich heritage.
Teachers and physical education instructors played a key role in helping students understand the relevance of yoga in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The initiative aims to instill the habit of regular yoga practice from a young age and raise awareness about holistic well-being among children.
The activities are part of a broader effort by the district to ensure active participation and enthusiasm ahead of the 11th International Yoga Day, to be celebrated on June 21.
