A meeting of the Executive Committee held in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party has welcomed the meeting of Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh their commitment to continue confidence-building measures (CBM’s) between India and Pakistan t end terrorism in the sub-continent.
The Panthers Party felt that the meeting in Havana between the to heads of the two countries were in the right spirit of the Shimla Agreement 1972.
According a hand out the Panthers Party executive has rejected the so-called demand for’ self-rule’ and ‘ demilitarization’ as this was repetition of the old gimmick of the power hungry politicians in Kashmir, who have been exploiting of the innocent Kashmiris in the name of Pakistani salt, green handkerchief and now self rule’. The Panther Party has appealed the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be aware of such politicians and accused Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, the supremo of PDP for violating the spirit of Common Minimum Programme, which did not include ‘demilitarization’ and ‘ self rule’.
The Executive Committee also appealed the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to increase the numbers of Hajis from Jammu and Kashmir in the “ Haj Quota” keeping in view of the situation in Kashmir and also urged Sonia Gandhi to convene an urgent meeting of Coordination Committee to save the coalition from disaster.
In the meantime Prof. Bhim Singh met the senior Hurriyat Conference leader, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat in Sopore and discussed the situation prevailing in Kashmir. |
