Jammu, June 21: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated at GDC Marh under the guidance of Prof. Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the college with the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. The IQAC, NSS Unit, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Govt. Degree College, Marh organized this event. The Principal, teachers, staff, and students warmed up before participating in a live yoga session on June 21, 2025, which marked the commencement of 11th International Yoga Day. Principal Prof. Ramneek Kaur, explained yoga as a process for meditation, to improve physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The yoga session was liked by students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. The whole event was coordinated under “Yoga Sangam”. The Physical Director, Mr. Ravi Kumar, demonstrated various yoga asanas such as Surya Namaskar, vrikshasana, bhujangasana, tadasana etc and explained the advantages of each asana to all the faculty, staff and students. Dr. Madhvi Parasher (Botany), Dr. Ram Dayal (Math), Dr. Ashu Jolly (Education), Ms. Anjana chib (Env.Sc.), Dr. Balwinder Saini (Chemistry), Mr. Sachin kumar Bhagat (NSS PO), Dr. Shakun Sharma (Sociology), Dr Priya Sharma (Economics), Mr. Kewal krishan(Library Asst.), Mr. Mohit Kalotra (MTS) and Mr. Rohit chib (MTS) participated with great enthusiasm and learned how yoga helps in maintaining mental peace and physical fitness. All participants took yoga pledge to integrate yoga in their life by practicing it regularly along with family and friends to take up yoga for healthier life style to strengthen our country. |
