| Aspiring lecturers in fix as PSC makes them apply twice | | |
SUMIT SHARMA Jammu, April 26: Hundreds of aspirants for the post of Lecturers in School Education department are in a fix as the J&K Public Service Commission has issued two notifications in short span of time for the same posts. The aspirants are in a dilemma on the mode of examination as which notification they should take final. The Public Service Commission issued a notification number 6 of 2008 inviting applications for the posts of Lecturers in different subjects. Thousands of applicants applied for the posts and were waiting for the test that a fresh notification was issued for the same posts but there was no mention about the previous notification. The Public Service Commission issued notification number 07-PSC of 2009 dated 09-03-2009 without mentioning that those who have already applied need or need not apply again. All those aspirants who had applied earlier along with the prescribed application fee had to fill in the forms again and pay again to the PSC for the same posts as notification was not clear. Earlier notification was also floated by the PSC under Notification number 6 PSC of 2008 inviting applications for Lecturers in different disciplines with total vacancies 630 where as new notification has been issued for 819 vacancies. Interestingly, the PSC notification mentions that for any query one can visit the Commission’s website or Commission’s facilitation centre at Jammu/Srinagar or dial number 2475064( Jammu) and 2455089 for Srinagar centre but in website you can’t find your query to be solved and to visit centre you have to stand in a long queue with no enquiry officer on seat moreover dialing number to the office you have to spoil a day but no response. Students and Parents of the students finding all doors shut approached to EARLY TIMES. Speaking to the ET correspondent students alleged, “We are being harassed and charged twice, as filing one form one has to bear rupees six hundred besides spoil a day standing in a long queue, one can judge it with floating of another notification in which last date is extended from 22 to 30 April as rush of applicants with draft of rupees 400 can be seen in PSC office and all this causg frustration among student community.” When ET contacted to the Chairman of PSC Shafi Pandit he said that it is the choice of the those applicants who have already applied to apply again to try their luck as department is going to hold two different exams in response to two different notifications issued by the PSC. Now the question arises if it already had mentioned in the new notification, resentment, confusion would not house among applicants
