JAMMU, June 23: Dogra Degree College proudly celebrated Olympic Day on 23rd June 2025, marking the global event that commemorates the birth of the modern Olympic Games. The occasion was organized to highlight the importance, values, and historical significance of the Olympics, with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
The celebration began with a formal welcome address by Mr. Gulshan Sharma CTO/ANO, NCC, followed by a series of engaging presentations delivered by students (Vani Riya Dmathia, Karandeep Kour, kashish, Mohammad kaif, Aditya pal, Aditya Dhir, Keshav Hans, Sukant Jangral, Daksh Kumar). These presentations covered the history of the Olympic Games, tracing their origin from ancient Greece to the modern era revived by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894. The students elaborated on the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, emphasizing their relevance in today's world. Through creative visuals and digital content, students showcased the evolution of the Olympics, iconic moments in Olympic history, and India's contribution and achievements on the international sporting stage. The event served as a platform to encourage sportsmanship, physical activity, and unity-core ideals championed by the Olympic Movement. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of Dogra Degree College congratulated the participants and encouraged students to imbibe the spirit of the Olympics in their academic and personal lives. "Olympic Day is not just about celebrating sport; it's about celebrating peace, diversity, and perseverance," he noted. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Vishal singh sr. Computer operator and a pledge by the students to promote fitness, fair play, and teamwork in all spheres of life.
