Early Times Report
MALIGAON, June 23: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made extensive arrangements to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for pilgrims attending the Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya temple. A series of measures have been implemented to manage the heavy rush of devotees visiting this significant spiritual event.
To cater to the increased passenger demand, NFR has set up special ticket counters at Kamakhya and Guwahati stations. These additional counters are operational round the clock to facilitate quick and hassle-free ticketing for pilgrims.
In an initiative to support devotees, the Northeast Frontier Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO) under the leadership of Mrs. Shalini Shrivastava, President of NFRWWO has undertaken food and drinking water distribution at Kamakhya station and surrounding areas. Packets of hygienically prepared food and water bottles are being distributed to ensure pilgrims' well-being during their journey.
Moreover, to clear the extra rush of passengers, NFR will operate two pairs of special unreserved trains. The first is Train No. 05672/05671 Guwahati - Alipurduar Junction - Guwahati Unreserved Special. Train No. 05672 (Guwahati - Alipurduar Junction) will run from Guwahati at 19:25 hours daily from 22nd to 26th June, 2025 to reach Alipurduar Junction at 04:00 hours on the next day. While in return direction Train No. 05671 (Alipurduar Junction - Guwahati) will run from Alipurduar Junction at 08:00 hours daily from 23rd to 27th June, 2025 to reach Guwahati at 16:20 hours on the same day.
Additionally, a Guwahati - New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati Unreserved Special Train No. 05698/05697 will also run to further assist passengers. Train No. 05698 (Guwahati - New Jalpaiguri) will depart from Guwahati on Thursday at 23:55 hours on 26th June, 2025 to reach New Jalpaiguri at 08:15 hours on the next day. Train No. 05697 (New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati) will return from New Jalpaiguri on Friday at 11:15 hours on 27th June 2025 to reach Guwahati at 19:30 hours on the same day.
NFR has also ensured enhanced manpower deployment at key stations and pilgrimage points. Additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, along with commercial and technical staff, have been mobilised to guide passengers, maintain order and assist in crowd management. Help desks and enquiry booths have been set up to provide information and necessary support to visitors.
NFR remains committed to providing safe and convenient rail services during the Ambubachi Mela and appeals to passengers to cooperate with railway staff for a smooth travel experience.
