Jammu, June 24: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) launched its Master of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication (MAJMC) programme in online mode. The MAJMC programme is already on offer through the Open and Distance Learning mode. It is a two-year duration programme and any candidate having a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university is eligible to get enrolled for this programme. There is no age bar and it is offered in English, Hindi and Tamil languages. The MAJMC programme is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the dynamic media sector. The curriculum provides a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills across key areas such as print, radio, television and digital journalism, photography, advertising, public relations, audio-visual production, media research, and communication academics. It has huge Career Prospects and graduates of this programme can pursue careers in Print, electronic, and digital journalism, Content creation and editing, Audio-visual media production, Advertising and public relations, Media analysis and research, and Teaching and academic research in media studies. “The programme offers flexibility, accessibility, and affordability for both fresh graduates and working professionals looking to upskill or shift to media-related careers and aims to prepare learners for a wide range of professional opportunities in the field of media and communication”, said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu. The applicants who wish to enroll for this programme can access the admission portal on the University’s National website www.ignou.ac.in Homepage or directly follow the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Candidates aspiring for admission will be able to complete their admission process on this portal before the deadline. The last date to apply for admission through the online portal has been fixed for July 15, 2025.
