J&K Taekwondo Association Cup 2025 - grand opening ceremony held

SRINAGAR, June 24: The J&K Taekwondo Association Cup 2025 commenced today with great fervor and enthusiasm at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar. The prestigious championship is being organized by the J&K Taekwondo Association under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council from 24th to 25th June 2025, in the sweet memory of D.N. Pangotra, former President of JKTA.
The event is proudly supported by Atul International Taekwondo Academy, Gameon Foundation and Colour World Advertiser, whose contribution has been instrumental in elevating the scale and impact of the championship.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council, who attended as the chief guest. In her address, Gul congratulated the winners, commended the participating athletes, and extended her best wishes to the organizers for hosting such a vibrant and well-managed sports event in Jammu & Kashmir.
The ceremony was further honored by the presence of Nissar Hussain, Senior Vice President of JKTA, and Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Manager of SKISC Srinagar, as the Guests of Honour.
Saadat Sogami, Chairman of Team Red NGO, also attended as Guest of Honour and took part in distributing medals to the victorious athletes, adding prestige and encouragement to the young sportspersons.
The championship is being held under the leadership of: Rajesh Pangotra, President, JKTA, Ramesh Chander Sharma, General Secretary, JKTA, Nissar Hussain, Senior Vice President, JKTA, Ashiq Hussain (Convenor of the Event).
The Organising Committee is headed by: Mr. Burhan Ud Din Khan, Director & Founder, GameOn Foundation (Chairman, Organising Committee), Vinod Grewal, International Taekwondo Event Expert, Danish Manzoor (International Taekwondo Player, Fit India Ambassador), Anees.
The technical conduct of the championship is being handled by a qualified team of referees and coaches, including:
Sunil Kumar (NIS Taekwondo Coach), Zaheer Abbas Khan (IR), Bashir Sheikh (NR), Shanaz Parveen (NR), Ashaq Hussain (SR), Vansh Rakwal (NR), Raghav Mehra (NR), Achutam Dev Singh (NR), Hashim Majeed (NR), Devansh Mehra (SR), Shivansh Rajput (SR), Dushyant Kapta (NR), Amit Kumar (NR), and Abrar Ul Akbar Batt (SR).
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 17 districts across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, including teams from the J&K Taekwondo Police Team and Khelo India Taekwondo Centres.
Ramesh Chander Sharma, General Secretary of JKTA, extended heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JKSC, for her continuous support and encouragement in the promotion of Taekwondo and sports culture in the UT.
The championship promises to be an exciting display of talent, discipline, and sportsmanship over the two-day event.
