This vibrant celebration of theatrical art brought together artists, theatre lovers, and intellectuals from across India. The festival commenced with great cultural dignity and enthusiasm, beginning at 5:30 pm and drawing a packed house eager to witness socially relevant and thought-provoking performances. On the inaugural day, the play “AAMMA,” presented by RANG PRIYA SOCIETY, Solan (Himachal Pradesh), moved the audience with its touching portrayal of the loneliness and despair faced by elderly parents when their children migrate to urban areas in search of employment. The play was a poignant reminder of the emotional neglect often experienced by the older generation. Mayor of Shimla, Shri Surinder Chouhan, and noted theatre personality Shri Praveen Chandla Daddu graced the occasion as special guests and praised the meaningful theme and powerful performances. The second day of the festival showcased the gripping psychological thriller “San-2025,” performed by “The Laboratory” theatre group from Patiala (Punjab). Written by Piyush Mishra and directed by Shobhit Mishra, the play is an adaptation of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s renowned work “Incident at Twilight.” The narrative revolves around two central characters – Dheeraj Brahmatme, a popular crime novelist known for his flamboyant life and scandals, and Sufi, a young researcher deeply influenced by Dheeraj’s writings. |
