| Valley under heavy security cover | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 27-More than 10 battalions of police and paramilitary forces have been shifted from various areas of the Jammu region and deployed in different belts of Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag constituencies where polling will start from April 30.These additional forces were available with the Government after the end of the Lok Sabha poll in Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Kathua constituencies. Official sources today said that all the polling stations have been provided with adequate security cover. More than 400 out of over 1300 polling stations in Anantnag constituencies have been placed under sensitive category where more than one company of security forces will be deployed on the day of polling. According to the sources, whatever additional forces will be available after the end of polling in Anantnag constituencies would be deployed in Srinagar constituency after the end of polling in Srinagar constituency Baramulla constituency will have more forces to ensure incident free poll. In reply to a question the sources said that "we have not involved troops in the poll duty." "Troops have been put on high alert not only on the border but within the valley so that militants were not in a position to disrupt the polling,” the sources said. "The Government has asked the troops to be on the standby and in case there was need the men in olive green would be requisitioned for tackling any major law and order problem.
