Early Times Report
CHANDIGARH, June 28: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women takes immense pride in its alumnae, who are not just a reflection of the college's enduring values but also its most powerful ambassadors. These remarkable women carry the ethos of their alma mater into the world, leaving indelible marks through their personal integrity and professional excellence.
Over the years, the college has been privileged to nurture countless dynamic women who have gone on to achieve distinction across diverse fields-be it the armed forces, civil services, medicine, engineering, academia, entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, the arts, philanthropy, or social service. Some among them have truly been pioneers, setting historic benchmarks. Captain (Retd) Ruchi Sharma holds the distinction of being the first woman paratrooper in the Indian Army. The late Flight Lieutenant Harita Deol created history as the first woman in the Indian Air Force to fly solo. Ms. Vandana Malik (IPS), in a profound testament to courage and commitment, laid down her life in the line of duty while confronting anti-social elements. The college also celebrates the stellar achievements of alumnae serving in the All India Services, Central and State Civil Services, and Judicial Services. These women exemplify leadership, resilience, and dedication in roles that demand strategic thinking, ethical governance, and critical decision-making. They continue to blaze trails for future generations- serving not only as role models but as beacons of what is possible when talent meets purpose.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma informed that MCM is the only institution in the region with a formally registered alumni body- AMDA (Association of MCM DAV Alumnae). She added that guided by its motto To Care, To Share, To Sustain, AMDA fosters a strong sense of community and ensures that the alumnae remain meaningfully connected to the institution that shaped them.
