| JU Cricket: Final ends in dispute | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 27: The final of inter-department cricket tournament between Department of Law and Department of Physical Education ended in a dispute over a decision of the umpires at University of Jammu grounds, here today. Now, the fate of the match would be decided when the committee, set up for the purpose, meets tomorrow. The match was stopped when skipper of Department of Law, Mohinder Pal Singh objected to a decision of the umpires, Raj Kumar and Raman Dutta, soon after Dinesh was `caught’ on the boundary. When the dispute aroused the match was in crucial stages of Law needing 13 runs to win off eight deliveries with two wickets in hand. Finding the match slipping out of hands, Mohinder Pal Singh questioned the umpires’ decision and asked for a six instead of a catch. Strict to their stand, umpires preferred leave the ground. Earlier, batting first, Physical Education bowled out for 113 runs in 18.4 overs of the 20 overs match. In reply, Law Department were struggling at 101 for eight in 18.4.
