Drug Peddler arrested, heroin like substance recovered by police

KATHUA, June 28: J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS today recovered 6.05 Grams Heroine-like substance in the jurisdictional area of PS Billawar and one drug peddler was arrested.
Today a Police party of PS Billawar led by SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of *SP Oprs upper Kathua Sh Aumir Iqbal and SDPO Billawar Sh. Neeraj Padyar established a routine naka in the Mandli area to keep a check on suspicious movement and illegal activities.
During naka duty, the police party noticed a person approaching on foot in a suspicious manner. On being stopped and questioned, he disclosed his identity as Layaqat Ali S/o Shaahab Din R/o Ghar Sawana Banj, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur. Upon his personal search, 6.05 grams of heroine like substance has been recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 103/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Billawar, and the accused was taken into custody on the spot. The recovered contraband has been seized as per legal procedures, and further investigation is in progress to trace the source and linkages of the narcotic supply.
