CS reviews dev scenario in Ramban

JAMMU, APRIL 28 -Underlining the need for creation of viable infrastructure in the newly created administrative units, the Chief Secretary, Mr. S.S. Kapur called upon the officers to take up the challenge of transforming the development scenario of these districts by putting the available resources to optimum utilization.
The Chief Secretary was speaking at a high-level meeting of HoDs, District and Sectoral Officers to review the development works besides, implementation of various schemes like NREGA, PMGSY, SSA etc. in Ramban district today.
Giving details of development activities initiated in the district in last financial year, the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Mr. A. D. Shanas said Rs. 3983.68 lakh was allocated for the district during 2008-09, against which an expenditure of Rs. 3510.30 lakh was recorded upto ending March, 2009.
Addressing the officers, Mr. Kapur asked them to work with devotion, dedication and professionalism so that the benefits of various governmental programmes should reach the people. “Putting the available resources to best utilization” is essential for steering the state towards path of progress, he said that taking development to the far-flung and hilly areas of the State has been the main focus of present dispensation. He asked the officers to put in their sincere efforts for removing the bottlenecks in the implementation of different welfare schemes that are hampering the pace of development in the district.
During the meeting, the problems being faced by the field officers in implementation of development schemes were also discussed in detail.
Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development, Mr. S. L. Bhat who also accompanied the Chief Secretary while addressing the meeting, exhorted upon the officers to develop the zeal for working for the upliftment of the neglected sections of the society. He said that the state cannot register itself among the progressive states unless its people are provided with basic amenities of life.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, G.S. Slathia, Director, Area Planning, M.H. Malik, District Development Commissioners of respective districts, Director, School Education, Jammu and Director, Social Welfare, Jammu, accompanied him.
