| CE R&B reviews dev works in Rajouri, Poonch districts | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, APRIL 28 -Chief Engineer, (R&B), Mr Nazir Ahmed today conducted an extensive tour to Sunderbani, Darhal, Thanamandi, Shadrah Sharief, Bafliaz, Loran, Mendhar and Kalakote areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts to inspect the ongoing development works under R&B section. At Rajouri, it was informed by Executive Engineer that during 2008-09 under (R&B) sector in Rajouri district, 87 km road were made fair weather, 45 km metalled/shingled, 7 km black topped and 100 culverts completed at an expenditure of Rs.34.45 crore. Similarly in Poonch district, 62 km were made fair weather road, 27 km metal/shingled, 4 bridges and 91 culverts completed at an expenditure of Rs.20.96 crore. At Poonch district, under NABARD 38 projects at a cost of Rs.115 crore are in progress. Under CRF, 42.05 km Mandi Bafliaz road has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs.42.82 crore and detailed survey is in progress for invitation of tenders. Similarly in Rajouri district, under NABARD 44 projects at a cost of Rs.98.08 crore and two projects under CRF at a cost of Rs.21.33 crore are in progress. The Chief Engineer called upon the field engineers to work with sincerity and dedication and impressed upon them to maintain strict quality control. The field engineers were specifically directed to take all precautionary measures for protection of environment while executing development works. A number of delegations met Chief Engineer at Sunderbani, Darha, Shadrah Sharief, Poonch, Mendher and Rajouri. The views of the public regarding impact of development works were ascertained and they generally expressed satisfaction over pace of development works of (R&B) department
