Police arrests drug peddler

REASI, July 4: In a major crack down on drug trafficking, Reasi Police, under its ongoing anti-drug campaign "Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Viudh" has intensified its operations and delivered a significant blow to drug peddling networks operating in Katra town.
Police station Katra has successfully booked 39 drug peddlers in 28 FIRs over the past six months, reaffirming its resolve to build a drug-free and safe society.
In the latest action-packed day on 03/07/2025, three separate operations led to the arrest of 03 accused and the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics, as follows:
Operation 1 - Yog Ashram, Katra: A patrolling party from P/S Katra intercepted a suspect carrying a bag. Upon checking, 270 Tramadol capsules and 1740 Alprazolam tablets were recovered. The accused was identified as Sham S/O Shanker Dass (38 yrs), R/O Kotli Pain, Tehsil & District Udhampur. A case FIR No. 189/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered, and the accused was arrested on the spot.
Operation 2 - Nomain Naka: During routine checking, a man traveling from Domail towards Katra was frisked and found carrying 7.120 grams of heroin-like substance. He was identified as Vijay Sharma S/O Tirath Ram R/O Saroon, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. A case FIR No. 190/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered, and he was taken into custody.
Operation 3 - PCP Moori: Around 1530 hours, a motorcycle bearing Regd. No. HR29AJ5750 was stopped for checking. The rider was found carrying 5.570 grams of heroin (Chitta). He was identified as Balwan Singh S/O Budhi Singh, R/O Mundharzani, Tehsil Kastigarh, District Doda. A case FIR No. 188/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered, the accused arrested, and the motorcycle seized.
