Early Times Report

POONCH, July 4: To ensure effective and inclusive planning under the District Capex Budget 2025-26, a meeting was today convened under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal to review and discuss the formulation of the PRI and BDC plans for the upcoming financial year.
During the meeting, the DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure that the PRI plans are formulated after thorough grassroots-level consultations, particularly through the conduct of Gram Sabhas. He emphasized the importance of community participation in identifying priority works that are feasible, need-based and impactful.
The DDC further stressed that the proposed works should be technically sound and source-oriented with special emphasis on sectors such as water conservation, installation of solar lighting systems, setting up of smart classrooms and projects promoting environmental and financial sustainability. He added that the selection of works must aim to benefit the maximum number of people and should be completed within the stipulated time frame.
The DDC underlined the need for timely and optimal utilization of funds and directed the departments to align the proposed projects with the broader goals of equitable development across the district. He called for a focused and integrated approach to ensure that the schemes and interventions reach every corner of the district, especially remote and underserved areas.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Assistant Commissioner Panchayats (ACP), Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Executive Engineer REW and other officers. Block Development Officers (BDOs) from across the district participated in the meeting virtually.
