Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, July 5: The AGRIM Club, in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering Technology and Computing at Desh Bhagat University (DBU), under the aegis of the Office of Academic Affairs, successfully organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Emerging AI Tools for Agriculture Scientists and Educators." The event was inaugurated with a warm welcome extended to all dignitaries and participants by Prof. (Dr.) Amarjit Singh, Hon'ble Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics), who highlighted the importance of FDPs in strengthening the academic framework. In his keynote address, he emphasized the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing the quality of education, promoting innovation, and improving teaching methodologies. Dr. Khushboo Bansal formally welcomed all participants and esteemed speakers, setting the tone for a highly insightful and engaging academic session. In her opening remarks, Prof. (Dr.) H.K. Sidhu underlined the value of Artificial Intelligence as a transformative tool for both researchers and educators. The technical sessions featured a series of enlightening talks by distinguished experts:Prof. (Dr.) Badhai Lonia, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, delivered a comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Avinash Kumar Bhatia, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, provided in-depth insights into the integration of AI in agriculture. Dr. Gurinder Kaur Sodhi, Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, explored the interdisciplinary benefits of AI, particularly its growing role in medical diagnosis and healthcare, showcasing AI's potential beyond agriculture. Dr. Sachin Bhardwaj, also from the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, concluded the expert sessions with a holistic perspective on the diverse applications of AI across sectors. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Shivangi Sood. |
