PDP’s ‘Self rule’ proposal a confusing document, says Vakil

Early Times Report
Rafiabad, Apr 28- Describing the PDP’s self rule proposal as a confused document prepared overnight by the party to save grace, the senior Congress leader and former Minister Abdul Gani Vaikil asserted that the ‘resolution of Kashmir issue is enshrined in collective wisdom of involved parties’.
Addressing a joint convention of NC-Congress workers at Hardu Chanam in Rafiabad today, Vakil said “Self-rule represents individualistic thought, thieved ideas and envisages retaining power through deceit.”
In view of the fact that individualistic yearnings have destroyed nations while collective wisdom has nourished them, it becomes imperative to describe Greater Autonomy proposal as fitting for showing the path towards resolution, Vakil said adding that the proposal has a representative character since the state legislative assembly debated, discussed and approved it.
He asserted that had PDP been concerned about sufferings of people, then instead of propagating a borrowed idea, they would have approved of this proposal and taken it forward during their tenure which they never did. “Kashmir issue is not like PDP’s approving or disapproving Abdullah family which has a glorious past and a bright future. It is a complex issue which needs a thoughtful leadership,” Vakil added.
Maintaining that PDP’s prime concern was power, Vakil said that it was Congress which revoked POTA besides taking other initiatives for restoring peace across the state and on the borders. Those claiming of impacting the foreign policy of India must understand that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh need not to seek advice from the PDP leadership for running the country and addressing the Kashmir issue, Vakil said. Moreover, one needs not to be reminded repeatedly that it was Mufti Mohammed Sayeed who on four different occasions betrayed his alliance partners. Thrice he did as Congressman and on the fourth occasion as patron of PDP, averred the Congress leader. “Mufti forced Jagmohan to take over as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir at a time when ruling coalition in the state was staunchly against it. A pioneer of bullet for bullet policy, Mufti cannot escape clean after pointing fingers at every other individual for onset of militancy in the state,” Vakil added.
Vakil urged the Congress and National Conference workers to demonstrate camaraderie and ensure victory of coalition candidate from Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency. “Let PDP read writing on the wall and realize that crafted statements go waste if not followed up with honest efforts, which PDP has never made,” asserted Vakil.
Reiterating that NC-Congress coalition would complete its term effectively, Vakil said “There is no Mufti in Congress in this new arrangement. The coalition has blessings of Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh, General Secretary AICC Rahul Gandhi and Patron of National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
Senior Congress and NC leaders who also addressed the convention included Haji Ali Mohammed Bhat ,Ambreen Badar, Javed Ahmed Dar and Ghulam Mohammed Khan.
