BJP asks Congress to clear its stand on Art 370
4/28/2009 11:12:48 PM
Early Times report
Jammu, Apr 28- BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora has asked the Congress party to come forward with a specific and clear stand about article-370 as it its coalition partner NC have categorically stated that they will oppose all steps which will be taken towards its abrogation.
Terming the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah equating BJP with PDP as totally irresponsible, the BJP spokesman said that the statement was only meant to attract voters. He said though the Congress being a national party has always remained Kashmir centric in this state so much so that they are not even opposing the CM’s stand on Article 370. “Congress should make its stand clear to the public and its silence over the issue will amount to mislead the public for remaining in power after compromising the national interest. Article-370 is a temporary and transitory provision in the constitution of India. Even late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru stated that it will vanish with the passage of time. The present leadership of Congress should state weather they support this demand or oppose to it, being temporary provision”, he said.
Arora appealed the public to ask every leader of Congress to clarify its stand over the issue. “We cannot befool the public by making irresponsible statements or adopting criminal silence over the issue as Congress has done. Congress should further clarify its stand over the issue of autonomy and self-rule, he added.
The BJP leader said that attempts are being made to spoil the communal harmony of this state by Congress-NC-PDP by making irresponsible statements adding that similar like statements in the past had led to 63-days long agitation in Jammu region.
