Early Times Report POONCH, July 5: Today, Hon'ble MLA Poonch, Ajaz Jan, paid a visit to District Hospital Poonch to review the existing residential quarters for doctors and to explore possible sites for the construction of additional quarters and security bunkers. He was accompanied by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Xen PWD (R&B), AEE, JE, and other concerned officials. During the inspection, Jan observed that the current residential quarters, with some structures over 50 years old and others built in 2012, are inadequate to meet the current needs. The acute shortage of residential quarters has resulted in doctors being forced to stay in remote areas, making it difficult for them to respond quickly during emergencies. To address this, Jan directed the concerned officer to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of new doctor quarters equipped with all modern facilities, ensuring a comfortable and accessible environment for medical staff. In addition, 2-3 potential sites were identified within the hospital premises for the construction of bunkers, aimed at enhancing the safety and preparedness of the hospital in this sensitive border region. Jan reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Poonch and assured that all necessary steps will be taken to expedite the project in coordination with the concerned departments. |
