NC creating fear psychosis for its political survival: Beig
4/28/2009 11:13:15 PM
Early Times Report
Kupwara, Apr 28- Senior PDP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Hussain Beg today said that there was no let up in creating a fear psychosis by NC leadership in the state best suited to them in the current political scenario
While addressing several election rallies in Kupwara assembly segment of Baramulla parliamentary constituency, Beig said using a retired policeman as a human shield in Kupwara was reminiscent of the practices followed prior to 2002 elections to instill fear among masses. Former deputy CM said that while it punctured the claims of making security forces accountable, at the same time it conforms to the electoral tactics of NC, which is clearly sensing its complete rout in the parliamentary polls, he said.
Reiterating his view that confidence of people in democratic system was a larger goal than a party winning a seat or losing, Beig warned against attempts to repeat the NC-Congress rigging plan of 1987. He said, Kashmir had undergone enough destruction and trouble for this opportunistic coalition to once again try its hand at similar tactics. Accords and alliances of National conference with the Central governments in past had brought miseries and agonies to the people of the state and the present dispensation is once again up in arms repeating the disaster of 1987.
In the ongoing elections, Beig said PDP is seeking mandate for carrying forward the unaccomplished political and economic agenda that was pioneered by the coalition Government led by the party between 2002 and 2005. He said the measures of immense political and economic significance taken by the PDP-led coalition Government had not only transformed the political discourse within the State but facilitated some noteworthy initiatives towards the peaceful and amicable settlement of the Kashmir issue.
