Inter-state cannabis-supply racket busted in Delhi; 5 arrested
7/6/2025 10:47:12 PM
NEW DELHI, July 6: The Delhi Police has busted a cannabis-supply network with the arrest of five people, including an Odisha-based supplier and a Noida-based receiver, a senior officer said on Sunday.
A total of 25 kg of cannabis was seized from the receiver's residence during a follow-up operation.
Police had earlier arrested two people, Mukesh and Rajesh, and seized 288 kg of cannabis concealed in a truck cavity, the officer said. During the subsequent investigation, the remaining links in the supply chain were identified and apprehended.
On June 29, the main supplier, Bhari Mal Nayak alias Nayak, a resident of Gajapati district in Odisha, was caught from his hometown, the officer said.
He said Yashvir Dahiya alias Satbir, a transporter-cum-trader hailing from Haridwar in Uttarakhand, and Sunil Nagar alias Gullu, a resident of Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh who was acting as the receiver of the contraband, were also apprehended.
"During interrogation, Dahiya disclosed that he had procured the contraband from Nayak under the instructions of Nagar. Acting on this input, a raid was conducted at Nagar's flat in Greater Noida, leading to the recovery of five more packets of cannabis weighing 25 kg," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam said.
He added that the network operated across multiple states and was involved in large-scale trafficking of narcotics.
Further investigation is underway to identify more members of the syndicate and ascertain the volume of drugs previously transported through the network, police said. (PTI)
