FVSc and AH, SKUAST-Jammu celebrates World Zoonoses Day- 2025 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 7: Under the able guidance of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice- Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, World Zoonoses Day- 2025 was organized at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at R. S. Pura. The Programme was organized by Division of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers at FVSc and AH. The theme of World Zoonoses Day 2025 is "One World, One Health: Prevent Zoonoses". World Zoonoses Day is observed globally on July 6th every year to commemorate the scientific breakthrough made by Louis Pasteur, who successfully administered the first rabies vaccine on this day in 1885. This occasion serves as a powerful reminder of the continuing threat posed by zoonotic diseases - infections that are transmitted between animals and humans. Worthy Dean, FVSc&AH, Dr. Rajesh Katoch graced the event. The event began with welcome address by Dr. Harsh Kumar Sharma, Professor & Head, VPHE cum Organizing Secretary of the function. He has emphasised about the importance of Zoonoses day celebration and public health significance of theme of this year. He informed that preventing the next pandemic starts at the animal-human interface. A united global response through One Health partnerships is essential to reduce risks, protect biodiversity, and ensure global health security. The expert lecture was given by Worthy Dean of the Faculty about the Parasitic Zoonoses. He has elaborately described about the different parasitic diseases that are transmitting from Animal to Human including Fish along with their symptoms, prevention and treatment. The programme was also attended by Prof. M. A. Malik, Prof. Puneet Choudhary, Dr. Dibyendu Chakraborty and Dr. Kawardeep Kour. The audience was UG students of the BVSc&AH. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Kawardeep Kour. |
